Optional Social Impact Activity, Wednesday, 25 October | 1:003:00 p.m.

Make Atlanta families’ holiday wishes come true!

You’ll be volunteering for The Empty Stocking Fund, a treasured community resource with a 95-year history of supporting local children in the Atlanta region. Serving thousands of children, families, and teachers annually, their work touches families in nearly every Metro-Atlanta county, city, and community.

Buses will begin boarding from the ride‐share transportation area located outside of the main lobby doors between Buildings A and B on Level 4. Attendees will start boarding at 12:30 p.m. to arrive onsite by 1:00 p.m. to start the activity.

Optional Atlanta City Tours, Wednesday, 25 October | 1:003:00 p.m.

Atlanta Trolley City Tour
The Peachtree Trolley will provide 90-minute fully narrated tours originating near Centennial Olympic Park and will introduce you to the “Must-Sees” of Atlanta. The tour includes 10-12 minute stop at the Martin Luther King Jr. National Park.

Attendees will meet by the ride‐share transportation area located outside of the doors between Buildings A and B on Level 4. Attendees will start boarding the trolleys at 1:00 p.m. to start the activity. 

World of Coca-Cola
Enjoy the champagne of the South while exploring its history! The World of Coca-Cola is the only place in the world where you are invited to explore the fascinating story of Coca-Cola. Guests will get the opportunity to stop in the “Taste It” Room to sample up to 60 different Coke products from every continent from around the Globe. Includes a custom Coke bottle for all guests.

Attendees will meet their group by the ride‐share transportation area located outside of the doors between Buildings A and B on Level 4. Attendees will start gathering in their groups by 12:30 to arrive onsite by 1:00 p.m. to start the activity.

Fox Theatre
Spend time touring a piece of Atlanta’s cultural history! Originally conceived in 1928 as a home for the Atlanta’s Shriners organization, this atmospheric building transformed in 1929 into a grand “Movie Palace” and was renamed, the Fox Theatre. Today the Fox’s 4,665 seat theatre hosts more than 150 performances a year ranging from Broadway to rock to comedy to movies. This learning tour includes:

  • Tour of the theatre’s public spaces that takes guests on a deep dive into the thrilling history of the building. See for yourself why the city of Atlanta cried out to “Save the Fox” and fall in love with the theatre under a canopy of stars.
  • Presentation on:
    • Managing different projects (shows) with different timelines; and
    • Comparison of different types of shows and how the overall approach changes based on needs.

Attendees will meet by the ride‐share transportation area located outside of the doors between Buildings A and B on Level 4. Attendees will start boarding the buses at 1:00 p.m. to start the activity. 

Central Atlanta Progress: Walking Tours of Downtown ATL
Atlanta is constantly changing, and this is your chance to get a close-up look at recent developments! Founded in 1941, Central Atlanta Progress, Inc. is a private nonprofit community development organization providing leadership, programs and services to preserve and strengthen the economic vitality of Downtown Atlanta.

Attendees will participate in two walking tours, learning about recent development in and around some of the oldest parts of Atlanta, including Centennial Yards and the South Downtown Development Project. Tours will conclude with a presentation and brief happy hour at Wild Leap Brewery.

Attendees will meet their group by the ride‐share transportation area located outside of the doors between Buildings A and B on Level 4. Attendees will start gathering in their groups by 12:45 to arrive onsite by 1:00 p.m. to start the activity.

The National Center for Civil and Human Rights
The National Center for Civil and Human Rights, which opened in 2014, is a museum and human rights organization in Atlanta that inspires people to tap their own power to change the world around them. The Center’s iconic exhibitions feature the papers and artifacts of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.; the history of the civil rights movement in the United States; and stories from the struggle for human rights around the world today.

Tour includes:

  • Introduction and welcome from member (s) of executive team;
  • Self-guided tour of the center with docents available for questions; and
  • Presentation by NCCHR staff after to include discussion and plans on upcoming building expansion.

Attendees will meet their group by the ride‐share transportation area located outside of the doors between Buildings A and B on Level 4. Attendees will start gathering in their groups by 12:45 to arrive onsite by 1:00 p.m. to start the activity.

Behind the Scenes: Sustainability at the Georgia World Congress Center | 1:00–2:30 p.m.
The Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC) is recognized as a LEED Gold-certified convention center. Even more impressive, the GWCC was built in 1976 and continues to work tirelessly to minimize the environmental impacts of capital improvements, operations and events hosted on its 200-acre campus. This is no small feat for a building that’s nearly 50 years old!

During this tour, you’ll hear from the staff at the GWCC about how they’ve renovated with an eye towards the future of sustainable communities including: boiler retrofit, natural light, waste management, transportation and the largest green roof.

Behind the Scenes: General Session Production as a Project | 3:00–4:30 p.m.
Go behind the scenes of our General Session Stage to see what it takes to make our keynote sessions so successful, and learn about the similarities between producing a keynote session and project management. In addition to a tour of the backstage of the general session room, you’ll hear how the general session producers start by identifying stakeholders and objectives for the sessions, and how the role of stage design and backstage and front-of-house technology are all managed to create engaging sessions.

Registration closed! Seas of Change: Helping PMIEF Partners Make Waves of Impact

Wednesday, 25 October | 7:30–9:30 p.m.

For 30 years, PMIEF (PMI Educational Foundation) has helped put youth on the path to success by incorporating project management skills into their daily lives.

Join us on Wednesday 25 October for our first-ever fundraising event where you will learn about the impact that PMIEF is making across the globe through our partners, celebrate our top donors, and raise funds to support the mission of enabling youth to realize their potential through project management.

This evening will include a light buffet and cocktails, silent auction and networking while enjoying the Ocean Voyager Habitat, which is the largest aquatic habitat in the Western Hemisphere featuring 80 different aquatic animals including (2) Whale Sharks.

Cocktail attire requested.

Annual Membership Meeting

Join us for PMI's Annual Membership Meeting on Thursday, 26 October at 5:15 p.m. as we reflect on the past year’s highlights and achievements, and challenge your PMI knowledge to score some fantastic prizes! The meeting will be moderated by our Chief Community Officer, Brantlee Underhill, and will include a PMI Operations update, announcement of new Officer Committee Chairs, and remarks from both our President and CEO, Pierre Le Manh, and Board Chair, Jennifer Tharp. Please review the agenda to discover more.

This session will be live-streamed from Atlanta. Those who are registered to attend virtually can expect an email 3 days prior to the session that will include instructions on how to access the virtual platform, along with login credentials. For those who want to attend in person, you must be a registered attendee of PMI Global Summit 2023.  Please note space is limited and is available only on a first-come, first-served basis.
